I love thrillers! Hearing a lot about Dan Brown, I wanted to try my hands out on his books since a long time now. But as every reader knows, everytime I finished a book, the choice of picking up the next read out of hundreds of them from the longggg TBR pile became a difficult task!
Finally, after finishing my exams and a long time since taking a break from the reading journey, finally picked up a Dan Brown novel and it was The Digital Fortress!
Title of the Book: Digital Fortress
Author: Dan Brown
Genre: Techno Thriller
My rating: ♦♦♦♦🔶
Backdrop:
---------------
Why Digital Fortress first?
As written earlier, I have seen and heard a lot about Brown's books. Out of those, I especially wanted to start with any of these:
- The Da Vinci Code because this is said to be one of his best.
- Angels and Demons because so many booktubers adore this!
- Digital Fortress after I watched Shrishty Sharma, a booktuber reviewed it.
I like technical stuff, computers. Hence, first chose the lighter and likely one of the three. Thus I started with Digital Fortress.
Main Characters:-
---------------------------
• Susan Fletcher: the head of the Cryptography division of NSA
• David Brecker: A Professor, an expert language translator and fiance of Susan Fletcher.
• Commander Trevor Strathmore: Deputy Director of NSA, head of Crypto.
• Leland Fontaine: Director of NSA
• Ensei Tankado: Former Employee of NSA
• GregHale: Employee of NSA Cryptography division
• Chatrukian: Technician of System Security, NSA.
and several others..
Synopsis:
_________
Nation Security Agency is a Government agency of the United Nations which, with the help of a super computer named TRANSLTR taps every encrypted information and decrypts them in order to avoid terrorist attacks and other dangers against the country. The NSA hides the existence of TRANSLTR in itself and collects data privately.
Is the privacy of General Public of the state is at stake?
Yes, argues Ensei Tankado. He aims is to make the world know about the TRANSLTR and builds the Digital Fortress, the ultimate code that doesn't crack even by the TRANSLTR itself.
My opinion:
____________
Dan Brown is popular for a reason, you see..
The story was intriguing. Detailing in the narration of technical stuff and character building were definitely a plus for me. Spy elements added crisp to the storyline. Frequent twists and turns led me to read the novel in a fast pace, holding breath.
The revelation was made early in the book and potrayal of the antagonist at the point of revelation was not what I expected to see after all the buildups given to that character. Also, there were some extraordinary things though they are negligible to the story.
Summing up:
--------------------
Having heard mixed opinions about the book, I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey with Dan Brown's first book.
How would you like to share your experience with Dan Brown, if any?! Do share in the comments below..
Excited to roll my eyes on your thoughts!!

ReplyDeleteHi . . In a broader sense , review presentation is very attractive and neatly pesented. You could also mention the improvement could have done in the story. I mean , it could have been more attractive if it is like this.. mainly your exoectation of narrating the story.. It is just a suggetion.. Any way all the best !
